About Us

Climbing Bears is a thriving village Pre-School, which has been meeting the changing needs of children in Wisborough Green and the surrounding areas since 1970. We are based in our own purpose built premises within the grounds of Wisborough Green Primary School, with whom we have a close relationship. Working together gives the children the very best start to their school life.

Climbing Bears is committed to early years learning through play. To ‘play’ is defined by the dictionary as ‘to have fun, to frolic, to trifle’. It is the spontaneous expression of thought and feeling. At this age, two to five years, play is never trivial: it is serious and deeply significant. This is our foundation stone.

For many years we have been providing an environment where children play, learn and achieve as they grow.

Who Are We?

Climbing Bears is lucky to have its own purpose-built pre-school in the grounds of Wisborough Green Primary School. We have a large, open-plan and well-resourced play area, which provides great learning opportunities for our children. Our high staff to child ratio's allows us to maintain a true 'free-flow' session where children can lead their own learning and develop their own ideas both indoors and out.

We have an outdoor space which includes a covered outside learning area, mud kitchen, Climbing walls, sandpit and lots of more.

Our nurturing, caring environment ensures:

  • A happy, calm, safe environment which is respectful of everyone who comes through the door

  • Individual attention, love & security for each child

  • That every child reaches his/ her full potential

  • That each child develops at his/her own pace

  • A non-discriminating, inclusive attitude

  • An environment in which to flourish, through self-discipline and self-discovery

  • Provision for special needs

  • Sense of community and family atmosphere
